As part of the Materials Art Arc Research Stn (m.a.a.r.s.) artist residency (@maarstation) in Joshua Tree, CA I lead a performance workshop and directed a short film. We labored through planned and improvised performances using dystopic abandoned structures and waste materials found onsite. Paraffin wax (a byproduct of oil production) was melted, then formed into candles in the desert sand. At sunrise the candles were burned and released back into the atmosphere.
