In this simulated self-portrait my inner adventurer poses with a mutated plastic bottle sculpture. The hazard suit becomes a second (synthetic) skin, protecting the adventurer from environmental toxins. At sunrise a haziness overtakes the air. Warm sunlight softly touches the mossy ruins of a grand atrium. A calm tide flows back and forth around the figure in a mesmerizing looping rhythm. The water’s surface extends into a flooded landscape where oil rigs pound away uninterrupted... some processes continue despite their destruction. A mysterious sculptural object decays and disintegrates into the water, but somebody somewhere would rather Instagram and geotag that shit the instant they discover it. Installed as a looping 4k video on a large 70 inch television.
